Duke of Sussex Launches Invictus Games Programme for Schools on Vancouver

Prince Harry showcased his fatherly side during his visit to Vancouver’s
Seaforth Armoury, where he launched a new educational programme connecting the
Invictus Games to schools worldwide.
The Duke of Sussex, brimming with energy, engaged with students aged 8 to 18
in hands-on activities designed to promote discussions around perseverance,
mental health, and the power of community and sports.
Harry took time to interact with students in small groups, listening to their
stories about how sports have shaped their lives. He later addressed the
audience, linking the lessons learned in the classroom to the inspirational
journeys of recovery embodied by Invictus athletes.
In a lighthearted moment captured on social media, Harry—father to Prince
Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3—joined students in a game of throwball,
displaying his playful “dad-mode” while connecting with the young
participants.
Having served as a captain in the British Army, Harry founded the Invictus
Games in 2014 to support wounded, injured, and sick service personnel and
veterans in their healing journey through sports.
The upcoming Invictus Games, set for February 2025 in Vancouver and Whistler,
mark the event’s first return to a former host country and will introduce
winter sports, including alpine skiing, snowboarding, biathlon, Nordic skiing,
skeleton, and wheelchair curling, to the competition.
Harry’s visit underscores his unwavering dedication to fostering resilience
and community through the transformative power of sports.
