Prince of Wales Launches Environmental Expedition with Oman Partnership
Prince William has lifted royal spirits with an inspiring announcement
following a string of challenges faced by the royal family. The Prince of
Wales recently joined Omani Crown Prince Theyazin bin Haitham at the Royal
Geographical Society to unveil the 2025 Jewel of Arabia Expedition.
As the expedition’s patron, William shared that the initiative will celebrate
“brilliant young people tackling environmental challenges.” Reflecting on his
own visit to Oman in 2019, he revealed he is currently in the “planning
process” for a future trip to the Middle Eastern nation.
During the event, William highlighted the expedition’s goals, noting that it
will showcase “Oman’s rich biodiversity and natural heritage” while addressing
the pressing issue of climate change. The journey will retrace the steps of
British explorer Bertram Thomas, following Oman’s stunning coastline and
documenting the impact of environmental degradation.
“This meaningful initiative symbolises the enduring friendship between our two
countries,” William remarked. He also emphasised the expedition’s role in
fostering global awareness about climate change’s toll on natural beauty.
The announcement comes amid a tumultuous period for the royal family,
including a security breach at Windsor Castle, King Charles’s recent health
struggles, and concerns over Queen Camilla’s well-being. Despite these
setbacks, William’s announcement underscores the royal family’s commitment to
meaningful causes and international partnerships.
