Buckingham Palace Shares King Charles’ Video Celebrating Major Milestone

Monarch Sends Message to Future Generations During 35th Anniversary of The
King’s Foundation

King Charles III marked a significant milestone in his reign by commemorating
the 35th anniversary of The King’s Foundation. The celebration, held on
Wednesday at Dumfries House, showcased the monarch’s dedication to leaving a
lasting legacy while continuing to fulfill royal duties amidst his cancer
treatment.

The event featured a poignant moment where Charles placed a personal letter
and his gardening secateurs into a commemorative time capsule. Buckingham
Palace shared highlights from the occasion, emphasizing the enduring mission
of The King’s Foundation.

“The King adds personal items to a time capsule to celebrate 35 years of The
King’s Foundation,” the palace statement read. “As Royal Founding President,
His Majesty began a year of celebrations for the charity today at Dumfries
House. Joined by ambassadors, students, and alumni for the occasion, The King
added his own personal gardening secateurs and a letter to be opened in 2125.”

The time capsule, which will gather items throughout 2025, represents the
charity’s legacy and commitment to inspiring future generations to protect the
built and natural worlds. It will be buried on the Dumfries House estate and
opened a century from now.

This milestone coincides with the increasing prominence of Prince William, who
attended his first royal engagement of the year as the newly appointed Patron
of the College of Paramedics. William’s growing influence within the royal
family has sparked speculation about the future of the monarchy, with
discussions of potential abdication continuing to circulate.

Despite such rumours, Charles remains focused on his reign, using this
milestone to reinforce his vision for sustainability, philanthropy, and the
legacy of The King’s Foundation. His message, both to his heir and to future
royals, underscores the importance of continuity and commitment to the causes
that define his leadership.
