Duke of Sussex Celebrates British Athlete’s Special Proposal
Prince Harry has charmed Britons with a heartfelt gesture after a touching
moment at the Invictus Games.
During the wheelchair basketball pool play, British competitor James Cairns
may have lost the match, but he secured something even greater—his future
wife. On February 9, Cairns proposed to his girlfriend of four years, Hannah
Wild, creating an unforgettable memory at the Games.
Speaking exclusively to Hello! magazine, Harry celebrated the couple’s
milestone with a warm message: “At Invictus, we provide a space for healing,
outstanding athleticism, and in James and his new fiancée’s case, even if you
don’t leave with a medal, you could leave with a ring!”
As the Invictus Games continue in full swing, Harry and Meghan Markle remain
in the spotlight, making back-to-back appearances in Vancouver and Whistler.
At the star-studded opening ceremony, Harry delivered a powerful speech,
honouring the resilience and courage of the participants.
“At this moment, when there is no shortage of crises, no absence of
uncertainty, no lack of weak moral character in the world, the values you
embody—the way you carry yourselves—not only at the Invictus Games but each
and every day… your courage, your resilience, your humanity… illuminate a path
forward for us all. And for that, we thank you.”
With his inspiring words and personal gestures, Harry continues to reinforce
the Invictus Games’ message of perseverance, unity, and hope.
