Royal Engagement Follows Duke of Sussex’s Reflections on Family and the
Invictus Games
Queen Camilla made a notable appearance with her grandchildren on Wednesday,
surprising royal watchers just days after Prince Harry’s heartfelt comments
about Meghan Markle and their children, Archie and Lilibet.
The 77-year-old royal, who serves as a patron of the Unicorn Theatre, attended
the launch of its new Creative Hub, celebrating the power of storytelling and
performance for young audiences.
During the event, she fondly recalled secret theatre outings with her
grandchildren while conversing with actor Rory Kinnear and author Malorie
Blackman. The engagement took place at Britain’s largest children’s theatre,
which welcomes 60,000 families and schools annually.
Her visit followed Prince Harry’s recent remarks from Canada, where he is
attending the Invictus Games. Speaking to People, the Duke of Sussex expressed
his gratitude for Meghan’s support, saying: “To have my wife here supporting
me is amazing. I love that she’s by my side. It’s such an important piece to
this whole adventure.”
He also shared that Archie and Lilibet are curious about the international
sporting event, adding: “They are fascinated.” He explained how his children
ask questions about the competitors, noting: “It’s a very interesting
conversation to have with your kids — to explain why that person is missing a
leg, why that person is missing an arm, why do they look the way they do. It’s
challenging but important.”
The Queen’s engagement at the Unicorn Theatre came just a day after she joined
King Charles III for a special reception at Buckingham Palace, reinforcing her
ongoing commitment to public service.
