Bullying allegations resurface as insiders reveal Meghan’s frustration
with ongoing royal rumours
As Meghan Markle marked her 44th birthday, controversy from her royal past
returned to the spotlight. Fresh claims suggest the Duchess of Sussex remains
upset over long-standing accusations that labelled her “Duchess Difficult”
during her time with the Royal Family.
According to insiders, the nickname reportedly stemmed from what palace staff
described as demanding behaviour, including emails sent as early as 5am. These
claims, which first emerged years ago, allege that her conduct led to multiple
resignations, with some aides said to have been brought to tears.
The allegations were first brought to public attention by royal correspondent
Valentine Low in 2021, just before the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s
high-profile interview with Oprah Winfrey. Low noted that tensions between
Meghan and her staff had already sparked internal concern and press coverage
at the time.
“We knew Meghan was angry about those stories,” he explained. “We knew she
challenged that narrative.”
Meghan has repeatedly dismissed the bullying accusations, insisting they were
part of a “calculated smear campaign” aimed at undermining her character.
Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020 and moving to the United States,
the Sussexes have seen significant staff turnover, with 25 team members
departing—six of them in the past four months, including key figures in their
public relations team.
