Buckingham Palace Shares New Photos of Princess Anne During Dublin Visit

Princess Royal meets Irish President as details of her long-term royal
plans emerge

Buckingham Palace has released new images of Princess Anne beaming during a
high-profile engagement in Dublin, where she was welcomed by President of
Ireland Michael D. Higgins and his wife, Sabina Higgins, at Áras an
Uachtaráin.

The photos, shared on the royal family’s official social media accounts on 6
August, highlight the Princess Royal’s continuing commitment to duty — even as
new details about her future role come to light ahead of her 75th birthday.

Known for her tireless work ethic and steadfast support of King Charles,
especially during his ongoing cancer treatment, Princess Anne recently
received a special honor from the monarch. A commemorative coin was issued to
mark her milestone birthday, recognizing her dedication and sincerity in
service.

However, royal watchers have learned that her full-time royal schedule may not
continue indefinitely. According to The Times’ royal correspondent Roya
Nikkhah, Princess Anne has privately shared a tentative timeline for scaling
back her public duties.

Speaking on the Royals with Roya and Kate podcast, Nikkhah revealed: “I was
told that [Princess Anne] told her team, ‘I’m going to start winding down a
little bit at 80 in five years, and then I want to step back completely at
90.’” She noted that the Princess may be modeling her approach on her late
father, Prince Philip, who fully retired from public life at the age of 96.

For now, the Princess Royal remains one of the most active members of the
royal family — and her warm reception in Dublin underscores the high regard in
which she continues to be held both at home and abroad.
