Duchess of Sussex laughs off comment about her acting past
Meghan Markle had a slightly uncomfortable moment during the latest season of
her Netflix series With Love, Meghan, when a guest dismissed her breakout show
Suits — right to her face.
In the seventh episode of season two, which premiered on August 26, Meghan
welcomed mixologist Payman Bahmani-Bailey to talk about his unusual career
path from law to cocktails. Midway through the chat, Meghan couldn’t resist
bringing up the legal drama that launched her acting career.
“Did you watch Suits?” Meghan asked enthusiastically. But Bahmani-Bailey’s
blunt response — “No, no, I don’t watch basic cable” — caught viewers by
surprise.
Meghan, 44, handled it with a laugh, though the exchange didn’t end there. The
guest doubled down, adding, “I like shows with curse words and stuff,” to
which Meghan replied with a smile, “Great, I love it.”
Meghan starred as paralegal Rachel Zane for seven seasons before leaving the
series in 2017, just as her relationship with Harry became public. At the
time, she explained her decision as a natural shift: “I don’t see it as giving
anything up. I just see it as a change… I feel very proud of the work I’ve
done there, and now it’s time to work with [Harry] as a team.”
Even if her guest wasn’t a fan, Meghan’s Suits legacy has only grown. The show
enjoyed a massive streaming resurgence in 2023, topping charts years after its
finale.
