Duchess of Sussex honours first responders and neighbours in California
Meghan Markle has paid tribute to those affected by California’s devastating wildfires in her Netflix series With Love, Meghan.
The seventh episode of season two, released on August 26, ended with a message filmed in Malibu, close to the Sussexes’ Montecito home. The statement read:
“This episode, filmed in the heart of Malibu, is dedicated to the first responders and all those affected by the devastating fires that swept through communities across California in early 2025. With love, to all our neighbors.”
The gesture is especially personal for Meghan, who grew up in Los Angeles before returning to California with Harry in 2020. Earlier this year, she delayed the premiere of the show’s first season as wildfires spread across the state.
In January, Meghan and Harry also volunteered with World Central Kitchen in Pasadena, helping distribute meals and supplies to those hit by the Eaton fire. They even opened their Montecito home to friends forced to evacuate during the crisis.
Living there with their children, Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 4, the couple’s tribute highlighted just how close the disaster has been to their own family.
