Royal expert highlights Camilla’s sacrifice and loyalty to King Charles
Queen Camilla has been praised for a bold act of devotion that, according to one royal expert, proves Princess Diana right about her.
Once branded the “other woman” and accused of breaking Charles and Diana’s marriage, Camilla has faced decades of criticism and public hostility. But her steadfast support for Charles—especially in light of his cancer diagnosis—has seen her win growing respect and affection.
Royal commentator Jennie Bond reflected on this shift in conversation with the Mirror, recalling Diana’s own words about Camilla. “I think part of it is because she so much wants the man she loves to be proud of her, and to pull her weight in their partnership,” she said.
Bond noted that Camilla’s loyalty has been key to her transformation in the public eye. “It must be so gratifying to have earned widespread approval—even affection—from a public who once ganged up against her as the ‘marriage breaker’ and the ‘other woman’ who made Diana so unhappy.”
The former BBC correspondent added, “I think Diana was absolutely right to tell me that Camilla was ‘loyal’ and that Charles’s love for Camilla was stronger than any marriage he might ever have made.”
