Prince William and Catherine’s Former Aide Joins Harry’s Invictus Team

Duke of Sussex strengthens his foundation as reconciliation hopes remain uncertain

Prince Harry has made a notable move regarding his long-standing project, the Invictus Games, even as efforts to mend ties with Prince William and Catherine show little progress.

The Duke of Sussex launched the Invictus Games in 2014 while still a senior royal, with William and Catherine publicly supporting the initiative at the time. Despite stepping back from royal duties in 2020, Harry has remained deeply committed to the foundation.

Now, new records reveal that Nick Loughran, once a senior aide to William and Catherine, has taken on a prominent role within Harry’s team. Loughran, who left Kensington Palace in 2016, has been appointed trustee and director of the Invictus Games Foundation. A source confirmed his enthusiasm, saying he was “delighted” to help guide the organisation as it continues to grow.

The documents also show that JJ Chalmers, a close friend of Harry’s and a familiar face at Invictus events, stepped down after serving two years as a trustee.

This development comes as Harry’s quiet attempt at reconciliation over the summer appears to have gone unanswered. Reports suggested he offered to align his diary with Buckingham and Kensington Palace engagements to ease tensions, but while conversations continue with the King’s advisers, William and Catherine are said to remain reluctant to engage.
