Private meeting with Harry sparks speculation over succession plans
King Charles’ recent meeting with Harry has stirred sharp debate among royal
watchers, with some viewing it as a long-awaited step toward reconciliation
and others seeing it as a sign of urgency behind palace walls. The private
meeting marked the first in-person contact between the two in 19 months and
came amid growing concern about the 76-year-old monarch’s health.
According to sources cited by Hollywood insider Rob Shuter, the King’s
condition is reportedly far more serious than the palace has publicly
admitted. One insider told Shuter on his Substack on September 12, “That’s why
Harry was summoned. This isn’t about reconciliation. It’s about succession.”
The King is said to be deeply worried about what will happen between his sons
once he is no longer on the throne.
Charles, who revealed in February 2024 that he had been diagnosed with an
unspecified form of cancer following treatment for an enlarged prostate,
continues to undergo regular therapy. Those close to him say he often hints at
struggling to carry out his duties with full energy, both due to his health
and his age.
Adding to his burden is the ongoing rift between Prince William and Harry.
Palace insiders claim Charles has urged his “heir and spare” to mend their
fractured relationship before it’s too late, hoping to secure a stable and
unified front for the monarchy’s future.
While the King has reportedly considered stepping aside to allow William to
take the throne, Queen Camilla is said to be his steady source of
encouragement, helping to keep his morale high as he navigates both his health
struggles and the future of the crown.
