The Duchess of Sussex celebrates a stylish milestone at Paris Fashion Week
Meghan Markle turned heads in Paris after making a surprise appearance at
Fashion Week, stepping out among the city’s elite for the first time in years.
The Duchess of Sussex attended the event to support her longtime friend
Pierpaolo Piccioli, who recently became Balenciaga’s new creative director.
Travelling solo, Meghan marked her debut at the show on Saturday wearing an
elegant white oversized cape layered over a button-down shirt and loose
trousers of the same shade. Later, she was spotted in an all-black dress with
a similar cape-inspired design.
After the event, Meghan shared a behind-the-scenes look on Instagram. One
story showed her walking in her white ensemble and black stilettos, set to
Julien Doré and Vitaa’s Viens on essaie. Another clip captured her returning
to what appeared to be her hotel after the show.
Her connection with Piccioli goes back to his days at Valentino, when he
helped style some of Meghan’s most memorable moments as a working royal. A
spokesperson for the Duchess confirmed that the Paris appearance marked her
“first time back to the shows in over a decade.”
“Over the years, the duchess has worn a number of designs by Pierpaolo. They
have worked closely together, collaborating on key moments on the world
stage,” the statement read. “She has long admired his craftsmanship and modern
elegance, and tonight was no different. This show reflects the culmination of
many years of artistry and friendship.”
