Prince William and Harry’s Aunt Injured in Serious Horse Fall

Lady Sarah McCorquodale hospitalised after accident, Earl Spencer shares update on her recovery.

Prince William and the Duke of Sussex have received worrying news about their aunt, Lady Sarah McCorquodale, who suffered a serious horse-related injury.

Lady Sarah, the late Princess Diana’s older sister, was hospitalised after what her brother, Earl Spencer, described as a “bad fall.” Speaking on the Rosebud podcast, he revealed that his 70-year-old sister had been in hospital for an extended period following the accident.

“Sarah, who is nearly a decade older than me, has always been quite spirited,” he said. “She’s still riding, and she’s had a really bad fall in the last month. I think she was quite a handful as a patient, because the lead doctor said to my brother-in-law, ‘She’s quite a character, isn’t she?’”

Earl Spencer also spoke fondly of their other sister, Lady Jane Fellowes, describing her as “really sweet and really funny,” noting the contrast between the two siblings.

The news comes as another reminder of the family’s shared love of horses. Last year, William and Harry’s aunt on their father’s side, Princess Anne, was also injured in a horse-related accident. Buckingham Palace confirmed at the time that she had sustained “minor injuries and a concussion.” The Princess Royal later admitted she had no memory of the incident.

Lady Sarah is continuing her recovery, with family members remaining hopeful for her full return to health.
