The Duke of Sussex wins over Americans with a playful imitation during
Hasan Minhaj’s podcast
Prince Harry gave fans a good laugh during his appearance on Hasan Minhaj
Doesn’t Know on October 29, when he gamely tried out an American accent at the
host’s request.
During the light-hearted exchange, Hasan asked the Duke of Sussex if he could
mimic an American accent. “Which part of America?” Harry asked, before Hasan
replied, “Anywhere,” and gave him a line to read: “I ordered breadsticks with
ranch dressing at Applebee’s.”
Harry tried, laughed, and asked Hasan to repeat it before finally giving it a
go. “That was decent,” Hasan said with a grin, while Harry joked that he was
“just sitting here sweating.” When the host followed up with another line —
“Hey, do you like my Cybertruck?” — Harry played along, prompting laughter
from the crew.
“The laughter’s encouraging… or is it mocking me? I’m not sure,” Harry teased
before adding a confident “Come on, y’all” in his best Southern drawl. Hasan
then challenged him to top it off with a “yee-haw,” and Harry obliged
enthusiastically.
Since moving to California in 2020 with Meghan Markle, Harry has embraced
parts of American life. When asked what the “most American thing” he does now
is, he said, “Surf — though I’m not sure if that’s American or just
Californian.”
Beyond the laughs, the two also discussed more serious topics, including
Harry’s ongoing work with the Parents’ Network, which supports families
affected by social media harms.
