Palace update highlights a meaningful moment of unity and remembrance
Prince William offered a sincere tribute to King Charles and Queen Camilla
this week, marking a rare public gesture of appreciation as he continues to
take on more responsibilities with the King’s full support.
The Prince of Wales missed Saturday’s Festival of Remembrance, where his
eldest child stood alongside Catherine in his place, as William had only just
returned from a short trip to Brazil. He was back by the King’s side the next
morning for the Remembrance Sunday service at the Cenotaph, where he honoured
the courage and sacrifice of those who have served.
On Tuesday, William joined Charles and Camilla at a poignant reception at
Windsor Castle, meeting veterans from across the UK and the Commonwealth. He
spent time speaking with attendees, reflecting on their experiences and
service.
Kensington Palace later shared a message from William recognising the King and
Queen and the meaning behind the event.
He said he was honoured to mark 80 years since the end of the Second World War
in the Far East alongside Their Majesties. He added that meeting veterans from
the Pacific and Indian Ocean regions was deeply moving, praising a generation
whose sacrifices brought peace to millions and continue to inspire today.
The message closed with the solemn phrase often associated with remembrance:
“Lest We Forget.”
Earlier that day, a pre-recorded message from William was played during the
Royal British Legion’s Armistice Day assembly for young people.
He spoke about why remembrance matters, saying that remembering helps people
connect personally with service and allows the courage of others to live on
through the stories we carry forward.
