Prince Edward Delivers Encouraging Update to King Charles After Key Nigeria Meeting

Monarch receives positive news as the Duke of Edinburgh advances major
mission abroad

Prince Edward has given King Charles a welcome boost during his week-long
visit to Nigeria, where he is continuing the work once led by their late
father. The Duke of Edinburgh received a warm reception when he arrived in
Abuja on Monday for a series of engagements linked to his royal duties.

During the trip, he met President Bola Tinubu at the State House to discuss
preparations for an upcoming event in Lagos connected to the Duke of
Edinburghโ€™s Award. The British Embassy said the visit highlights Nigeriaโ€™s
energetic youth population, its cultural diversity, and the global reach of
the award programme as it approaches its seventieth anniversary.

Officials noted that talks focused on supporting young people and widening
access to the award across Nigeria and Africa. The programme is recognised
worldwide for helping young people build confidence, resilience, and useful
skills through schools, youth groups, and community organisations.

Edward praised President Tinubuโ€™s economic reforms and said the upcoming
celebrations in Lagos would spotlight the achievements of Nigerians who are
working hard to develop their abilities and contribute to national progress.
He confirmed that 320 young Nigerians will be honoured during the events,
which are being held in partnership with the Lagos State Government.
