New disclosures deepen the strain on the royals as Andrew’s past returns to the spotlight
King Charles may have cut ties with his disgraced brother, yet the fallout from Andrew’s past continues to shadow the royal household. The former Duke of York remains linked to long-standing allegations, business dealings that raised concerns and his association with Jeffrey Epstein. The family is said to be bracing for further damaging revelations.
Recent reports show that Andrew Mountbatten Windsor appears more than 170 times in the newly ordered Epstein files, making him the most frequently named British figure. Other well known British names mentioned include Sir David Beckham, Naomi Campbell, Adele and Mick Jagger.
Despite repeated public scrutiny, Andrew has not shown any clear sign of remorse. His recent appearance on horseback near Royal Lodge has only added to the frustration within the family, according to royal commentators.
Observers believe the situation may worsen. Writing for Vanity Fair, Katie Nicholl noted that more claims involving Andrew could surface. Her comments followed President Donald Trump’s announcement that he had signed a bill directing the release of the Epstein documents.
Royal biographer Robert Jobson suggested that much of the prolonged turmoil stems from Andrew’s failure to be fully open with the late Queen or with the King. He argued that early honesty might have changed how events unfolded.
Andrew was stripped of his royal roles to keep the focus on the family’s public work. While he is no longer part of official life, the renewed attention will still spark headlines. Even so, the King’s firm stance is expected to ease some of the pressure on the institution as it navigates yet another difficult chapter.
