A possible Sandringham invitation could help restore the family’s standing
With Christmas approaching, the Royal Family is preparing for the holiday season while the scandal surrounding Prince Andrew continues to cast a shadow. For now, Andrew and Sarah Ferguson are expected to remain at Royal Lodge, their long-time home, until after New Year’s Eve.
Daily Express correspondent Chris Riches welcomed this arrangement, pointing out that it keeps the family’s most controversial figure at a distance during a sensitive time and out of the media spotlight. He noted that it also spares the King from a difficult conversation about why Andrew and his former wife would not join the traditional Christmas Day walk to St Mary Magdalene Church, where the public gathers to greet the royals.
Riches added that the setup prevents awkward moments for Andrew and Ferguson, who would otherwise face prying eyes and blunt comments about the Epstein scandal.
Even so, he suggested the King should extend an invitation to their daughters to join the family at Sandringham. According to him, the public holds no ill will toward the princesses and often feels sympathy for them, provided they avoid the missteps associated with their parents. He argued that as time passes, the country may move on from Andrew and Ferguson, though not necessarily forgive, leaving their daughters as the remaining positive face of the York household.
Andrew Mounbatten-Windsor lost his titles after new details emerged about his links to Jeffrey Epstein. His name reportedly appeared 173 times in related documents.
