Duke of Sussex reflects on WellChild’s resilience and the families it
serves
Harry has shared a warm message of thanks as Patron of WellChild, praising
everyone who helps the charity support children with serious medical needs. In
a letter released as part of the charity’s latest Impact Report, he said he is
humbled each year by the strength and spirit of the WellChild community.
He reflected on the challenges many families face while caring for children
with complex conditions, especially at a time when health and social care
services are under strain. According to him, WellChild continues to be a
lifeline, offering advocacy, new ideas, and practical support that helps
children receive safe care at home whenever possible.
The father of Archie and Lilibet also spoke about one of the highlights of his
role: meeting the winners of the WellChild Awards. He described it as a moment
he looks forward to every year. He said that returning to the celebration in
2024 brought him real joy and that hearing the stories of the children, their
families, and the professionals around them is a powerful reminder of the
importance of connection and compassion.
Harry ended his letter by thanking everyone who plays a part in the charity’s
work, including staff, Trustees, nurses, supporters, volunteers, and families.
He said their efforts change lives every day and that he is proud to stand
with them in this mission.
