Sarah Ferguson Moves Toward Independence After Andrew Controversy

Fergie seeks her own home as the Royal Lodge situation unfolds

Sarah Ferguson is preparing to establish a home of her own near Windsor as she and her former husband Andrew face their departure from Royal Lodge. A source told The Times that she hopes to remain in the United Kingdom while creating a separate base where she can focus on her personal work.

The source said she wants a place in the Windsor area that allows her to live independently and continue her projects as Sarah Ferguson. Andrew, meanwhile, is expected to relocate to a smaller property on the Sandringham estate early in the New Year, and she will not be moving with him.

Reports earlier suggested that she asked King Charles for a new royal residence following the Royal Lodge eviction. Palace insiders were said to be unimpressed, noting that she has not carried out royal duties for many years. According to The Mirror, she had set her sights on Adelaide Cottage, which some experts argued showed a gap between her expectations and current royal realities.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told the Daily Mail that the idea of securing a Crown Estate property for herself is unlikely to gain approval. He said public reaction would be strong if she were granted a second home linked to the monarchy, especially as Andrew has been compelled to give up Royal Lodge. He added that she has already managed several returns to public attention, but in his view, there is no path back this time.
