Royal author Andrew Lownie says the former couple may mark their exit quietly with long-standing friends
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and his former wife Sarah Ferguson are said to be planning one final gathering at Royal Lodge, despite their fall from royal favour. The claim comes from royal author Andrew Lownie, who recently spoke about the couple’s situation following years of controversy.
Lownie, the author of Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, suggested the event would be low-key and limited to friends who have remained loyal. According to reports carried by GB News, the gathering would take place before the pair vacate the 30-room Royal Lodge.
Andrew lost his remaining royal titles after a decision by King Charles III, following renewed scrutiny over his links to Jeffrey Epstein. He was also asked to leave Royal Lodge, where he has lived for years. Sarah, who no longer uses the Duchess of York title, is reportedly looking for a separate home after continuing to share the property with her former husband.
A source quoted in the Daily Mail claimed there would be “some sort of party” over Christmas for their last remaining circle. Lownie added that the guest list would likely include friends “who go a long way back and have stuck with them.”
The couple were notably absent from the royal family’s Christmas plans this year and were not invited to celebrations at Sandringham. Their absence comes as Andrew once again finds himself in the spotlight following the release of a new batch of Epstein-related files.
For now, the reported farewell gathering appears to be more about quiet closure than celebration, as the Duke of York chapter continues to draw to an uneasy close.
