welcomed 92-year-old Colin and 9-year-old Avi to Buckingham Palace as part of
the Poetry Together initiative, showcasing her dedication to community
engagement despite a recent health setback.
The Palace’s social media accounts featured photos from the event, captioned:
“Last week, The Queen welcomed Colin and Avi to Buckingham Palace to hear
their Poetry Together winning poems.”
This engagement marked a significant moment for Camilla, who had scaled back
her commitments under doctors’ advice following a chest infection.
The Poetry Together initiative connects younger and older generations through
poetry, with participants sharing their creations over tea and cake. This
year’s theme of “friendship” builds on last year’s theme of “happiness,”
fostering intergenerational bonds across the UK.
Camilla’s recovery and return to royal engagements come as the royal family
reflects on recent poignant moments, including the tragic passing of
17-year-old cancer patient Liz Hatton, who met Prince William and Princess
Kate at Windsor Castle shortly before her death.
