Buckingham Palace Recognises Duchess Sophie for Delivering the King’s Message

Duchess of Edinburgh strengthens her royal role during Belize visit

Buckingham Palace has highlighted the Duchess of Edinburgh’s recent work in
Belize, underscoring her steady presence as one of King Charles’ most reliable
supporters.

On 20 November, the palace released an update and a set of photographs from
her visit to the Realm of Belize. Sophie began her trip at the San Antonio
Women’s Cooperative, where she learnt about local projects designed to support
women and inspire children. She also took part in pottery and traditional
Mayan cooking activities.

Her schedule included a visit to the Belize Council for the Visually Impaired,
an organisation focused on preventing sight loss and providing essential eye
care. She later joined the Garifuna community for their Settlement Day
festivities, celebrating their cultural heritage.

The centrepiece of the visit came at Government House, where the Duchess
delivered a message from King Charles. In it, he praised the country’s natural
beauty and applauded Belizeans for their commitment to safeguarding forests
and wildlife through Indigenous knowledge and traditional practices.

Before travelling to Belize, Sophie spent time in Guatemala supporting
organisations that work on human rights and environmental protection.

Her recent engagements follow a wider display of unity from the royal family.
Queen Camilla, Prince William, Sophie, and Princess Anne have continued their
public duties, keeping attention on ongoing humanitarian and environmental
work rather than on recent controversies involving Andrew.
