Princess of Wales Embraces a Modern Approach to Monarchy
Catherine has stepped into 2025 with a renewed focus on her royal duties,
making subtle yet significant changes as she prepares for her future role as
Queen.
Entrusted with new responsibilities and patronages by King Charles, the
Princess of Wales is shaping the monarchy in her own way, even if it means
moving beyond century-old traditions in favour of a more modern approach.
Known for her impeccable fashion sense, Catherine’s style choices continue to
set trends—often referred to as the “Kate Effect.” Recently, her endorsement
of Austrian designer Petar Petrov gained attention when she wore a brown
blazer from the brand during her visit to the National Portrait Gallery on
February 4.
Petrov noted that Catherine’s evolving wardrobe reflects a shift towards “more
modern” and “relaxed” styling, reminiscent of her late mother-in-law, Princess
Diana.
“Her clothing looks much less uptight; she looks modern and fresh. I think
after fighting cancer, she became even more relevant now than she was—she is
such an inspiration to other women, and that’s important to us,” Petrov told
People Magazine.
He continued, “It’s not about rules that were created 100 years ago. She is
leaning into her own values and embracing what it means to be a working royal
today, and that’s very interesting to me.”
Petrov praised Catherine’s forward-thinking approach, saying, “I really think
it’s great that this is the person who will be the future Queen of England.
She is modern, she is reflective, and she sees the world around her rather
than living in a royal bubble, which makes her even more special.”
As she continues to balance tradition with contemporary values, Catherine is
demonstrating a progressive vision for the monarchy, setting the stage for a
new era of royal leadership.
