The Prince and Princess of Wales spotlight mental health awareness on
World Mental Health Day
The Prince and Princess of Wales have once again used their platform to
support a cause close to their hearts. Their office released a touching video
on Instagram, showing Prince William visibly emotional as he spoke about the
painful reality of suicide and the importance of seeking help.
The short film, shared on October 9 to mark World Mental Health Day, featured
the future king encouraging people to talk openly with family and friends when
facing hardship. The video was accompanied by a caption introducing The Royal
Foundation’s new National Suicide Prevention Network, which aims to unite
organisations and individuals across the UK to reduce suicide rates and
strengthen mental health support.
The network, supported by The Royal Foundation, will be chaired by Professor
Ann John, a leading authority in suicide and self-harm prevention and
Consultant in Public Health Medicine for Public Health Wales. The initiative
seeks to identify the root causes of suicide, make help more accessible, and
encourage collaboration and innovation across the United Kingdom.
Through this powerful video, William and Catherine continue to show their deep
commitment to improving mental health awareness and promoting compassion in
conversations about emotional wellbeing.
