George, Charlotte, and Louis Face Crucial Role in Securing Monarchy’s Future

Wales children expected to reconnect Royal Family with younger generations

Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis may be the youngest
members of the Royal Family, but experts say the future of the monarchy could
one day rest on their shoulders.

As the children of Prince William and Princess Catherine grow up in the public
eye, royal commentators believe they will play a critical role in bridging the
widening gap between the monarchy and Britain’s youth—a challenge seen as
essential to the institution’s long-term survival.

Royal expert Rafe Heydel-Mankoo told GB News that forming a meaningful
connection with younger generations is “fundamentally important for the
survival of the institution,” stressing the need for the monarchy to “remain
relevant” in a rapidly changing world.

The statistics paint a concerning picture. A 2023 YouGov survey found that
only 30% of 18 to 24-year-olds viewed the monarchy as “good for Britain.” By
2025, an Ipsos poll revealed that just 19% of 18 to 34-year-olds felt the
institution was doing enough to modernise.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams agreed that regaining the trust and
interest of young people will be “very difficult,” noting that the Royal
Family’s traditional image—along with the continuing fallout from the
Sussexes’ departure—has damaged its standing with the next generation.

Despite these challenges, hope remains that the next royal generation can turn
things around. “Hopefully this will only be an issue for the next 10 to 15
years,” said Heydel-Mankoo. “As we wait to see the children of the Prince of
Wales grow up and begin taking on more duties themselves.”

With Prince William and Princess Catherine said to be fully aware of the task
ahead, their children—George, Charlotte, and Louis—are expected to play a
central role in keeping the monarchy alive, modern, and meaningful for
generations to come.
