Former football captain expresses deep gratitude following his knighthood
at Windsor Castle
King Charles has received a wave of admiration from David Beckham, who
publicly thanked the monarch after finally being knighted — a long-awaited
honour for the football legend.
The ceremony took place on November 4 at Windsor Castle, where the 50-year-old
was officially recognised for his contributions to sport and philanthropy.
Sharing the moment on Instagram, Beckham wrote, “I can’t even begin to
describe what a special day it is for me today, a boy born in East London, to
receive a Knighthood from His Majesty The King. I am truly humbled and so
grateful for this honour.”
He reflected on his pride in representing England throughout his career,
writing that he has always loved “our Royal Family,” admired both in Britain
and around the world. Beckham also highlighted his work with UNICEF, the Royal
Foundation and the King’s Foundation, crediting them for showing him “how
important it is to support children, to help them fulfil their potential and
inspire the next generation.”
In his heartfelt message, Beckham thanked his parents, wife Victoria and their
children for their constant support, adding, “Finally Mum, Dad, Victoria and
to my Kiddies, can you believe this… I love you all so much and Thank You
@theroyalfamily.”
The tribute comes at a time when King Charles is being praised for reshaping
the monarchy’s image, following the final chapter in the Duke of York and
Sarah Ferguson’s formal exit from royal duties.
