Monarch expresses pride as his son champions environmental causes in Brazil
King Charles has shared his admiration for his eldest son, the Prince of Wales, recognising his growing leadership and commitment to tackling climate change. William, currently in Brazil, is representing the royal family at two major events — the Earthshot Prize Awards in Rio de Janeiro and the COP30 World Leaders’ Summit in Belém.
Kensington Palace has kept royal followers engaged with regular updates, posting photos and videos of the Prince’s activities. Among the well-wishers showing support was King Charles himself, who liked a post featuring William’s message about his “special few days” abroad — a gesture that many saw as a touching sign of paternal pride.
Before setting off for Brazil, William reportedly met with his father at the royal residence to discuss his keynote address for COP30. He will speak on behalf of the King and the UK Government at the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference, continuing a mission that both father and son hold dear.
A royal insider told Hello! that the King remains deeply interested in the Earthshot Prize and is impressed by what William is building through the initiative. Both share a vision of safeguarding the planet for future generations.
William has often said his children inspire his environmental work, explaining, “I want them to grow up surrounded by nature, opportunity, and a sense of hope about the future.” Yet he also emphasises the urgency of acting now to ensure that hope becomes reality.
