Monarch makes solo church appearance amid fresh York family controversy
King Charles has been photographed for the first time since a royal author
warned him to keep his brother Andrew and the York family at a distance.
On Sunday, 10 August, the 76-year-old was spotted driving himself to Crathie
Kirk, the small church near Balmoral Castle where the royals traditionally
worship during their summer retreat in Scotland. Behind the wheel of his
silver estate car, with the windows rolled down, the King appeared at ease as
he traveled the short distance from the castle to the chapel, according to the
Daily Mail.
His appearance came just days after he visited RAF Lossiemouth on Wednesday, 6
August, where he re-presented the squadron standard to Number 42 Squadron.
The outing follows comments made by author Andrew Lownie during the 7 August
edition of Palace Confidential. Promoting his upcoming book Entitled: The Rise
and Fall of the House of York, Lownie urged the King to distance himself from
Andrew, his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, and their daughters, saying there were
“more scandals to emerge.”
Charles is expected to be joined at Balmoral by the Prince and Princess of
Wales as the family continues their annual summer holiday in the Highlands.
