King Charles worries he has failed to protect his grandchildren’s future

Monarch delivers his toughest message yet on the urgent need for climate action

King Charles says he fears children may one day believe he did not do enough to safeguard the planet. Speaking with Steve Backshall for an upcoming documentary, he offered one of his strongest warnings on the worsening climate crisis.

He shared his frustration over how scientific evidence is still brushed aside. As reported by the Daily Star, he said it feels strange that science is trusted in most areas except when it comes to climate change. He added that the slow response from world leaders is deeply worrying, especially as scientists continue to warn about tipping points.

Even so, the King believes there is still time to repair some of the damage. He said these problems can be reversed if people act with purpose and hold on to hope.

King Charles, who is grandfather to children of both William and Harry, admitted that what troubles him most is the world they will inherit. He said it feels unfair to leave younger generations with a planet in worse shape than he received, explaining that his lifelong environmental work has been driven by a wish to avoid being blamed later for not acting when he had the chance.

He added that this responsibility toward his grandchildren remains the key reason he has spent decades pushing for meaningful change.
