Meghan Markle and Harry Face Setback as King Charles Plans Major US Visit

Monarch expected in America next spring for historic celebrations

The Duke of Sussex and Meghan Markle have been hit with disappointing news as King Charles prepares for a high-profile trip to the United States next year.

Reports from The Sun say the monarch is expected to travel to America next April as part of celebrations marking the nation’s 250th anniversary. According to the outlet, President Donald Trump is planning to host King Charles during a formal State Visit in the spring, depending on the King’s health.

Sources in both Washington and London say early plans include a visit to the White House in late April, with Queen Camilla likely to accompany him.

US officials are preparing a full programme of events leading up to the July 4 celebrations, and the royal visit is seen as a significant moment in the year’s commemorations.

While anticipation builds around the trip, Page Six reports that Harry and Meghan, who live in Montecito, are not expected to be included in any official engagements. Insiders told the outlet that, as the couple are no longer working royals, they will not be invited to the planned events, unless the royal family specifically requests their presence.

Officials on both sides hope senior members of the royal family will take part, noting the year will be important for both the US and the UK.

The visit would be King Charles’s first to America since 2018, when he attended the funeral of former President George H. W. Bush on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II.
