Meghan Markle blamed for deepening Harry’s royal rift

Experts say the Duchess has “rubbed salt” into old wounds

Meghan Markle is facing fresh criticism over her role in Prince Harry’s ongoing estrangement from the royal family.

Royal commentator Sarah Vine claimed that instead of helping her husband heal, the Duchess of Sussex has worsened his long-standing pain, particularly around the loss of his mother, Princess Diana. Vine urged the royals to welcome Harry back into the fold, warning that reconciliation is vital for his well-being.

“She has reopened, or even rubbed salt, into those old wounds,” Vine said, adding that Meghan encouraged Harry to step away from his royal identity without helping him build a stronger life outside the institution.

Her assessment was echoed by another insider, who told Radar Online: “Meghan hasn’t guided him toward closure. Rather than building a fresh start, they left but remain fixated on the past – and that fixation is what keeps Harry stuck.”

The tension, experts argue, carries risks not just for Harry but for the monarchy itself. Andrew Norman Wilson has cautioned that unless the family mends the rift before William becomes king, the damage could be severe.

“When Charles vacates the stage, as one day he must, and William is anointed, a middle-aged brother in exile, on non-speakers with the sovereign but with a potential audience of billions, could do incalculable damage,” Wilson warned.

He urged both sides to work toward reconciliation: “It would be miles better that the Sussexes be brought in from the cold. Both sides should be seeking not only diplomatic and political help, but personal counsel.”
