Duchess stays in California while encouraging husband’s private meeting
Meghan Markle, often linked to the tensions between Harry and the royal family, is reportedly backing her husband as he prepares to visit the UK and see King Charles.
While Meghan has faced her own share of criticism and distance from the royals, she is not standing in the way of Harry’s plans. Instead, she is said to be quietly supportive as he seeks to spend time with his father, who is undergoing cancer treatment.
Harry is expected to have a private conversation with the King, though the details are being kept under wraps. His trip coincides with the WellChild Awards on September 8, which also marks three years since Queen Elizabeth’s passing. Meghan will remain in California with their children, Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 4.
Royal commentator Emma Fabiani noted that even though Meghan won’t be in the UK, her influence is still present. “Officially, she’s not involved, but it’s hard to imagine these decisions being made without some level of family discussion,” she told Express US.
She explained that Meghan has consistently shown her support for Harry, and it would be difficult for her to watch him carry the weight of estrangement from his family without encouraging him to seek reconciliation.
Commentator Kinsey Schofield added that while Meghan’s recent interview remarks may be scrutinised, any progress toward healing the rift will ultimately depend on the royal family itself.
