Meghan’s heartfelt words about Archie and Lilibet hint at family rift

Duchess reflects on hopes for her children while addressing strained ties

Meghan Markle has shared her hopes for the future of her children with Harry while appearing to touch on her own fractured family relationships.

Speaking on The Circuit podcast with host Emily Chang, the Duchess of Sussex opened up about family life and what she wants Archie and Lilibet to experience as they grow. When asked if there was anything she wished for her children that she and Harry had not had, she replied without hesitation:

“I want them to have the fullness of life and support.”

Her words come against the backdrop of ongoing tensions between the Sussexes and the Royal Family since their decision to step away from royal duties in 2020. At the same time, Meghan’s relationship with her father, Thomas Markle, remains deeply strained. Now 81, he has never met his grandchildren.

During the discussion, Meghan also reflected on the challenges of living within the royal system, noting that the rigid expectations often prevented her from being her true self.

“I think probably it was different several years ago where I could not be as vocal and I had to wear pantyhose all the time,” she said.

“Let’s be honest, that was very not myself.”

Her candid comments underline the contrast between the life she once lived and the supportive, open environment she hopes to create for her children.
