Young royal takes on unique role as his awareness of destiny grows
Prince George has taken an important step toward his future as King, achieving
a Royal Family first while becoming more aware of the responsibilities that
lie ahead.
Royal historian Marlene Koenig told Us Weekly that the eldest son of the
Prince and Princess of Wales is “most certainly aware of their future” and has
been gradually introduced to more public duties, particularly since the
passing of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022.
Since then, George has attended several key royal occasions, including King
Charles III’s Coronation, where he made history as the first royal to serve as
a train bearer. “If the young prince was nervous, he didn’t show it,” Koenig
remarked.
Koenig added that William and Catherine have likely begun speaking to George
about the changes ahead, especially as his position as heir becomes more
defined. “The Coronation provided the young prince with the knowledge that he,
too, would one day be crowned in a Coronation ceremony,” she explained.
Although George still enjoys the life of a sports-loving schoolboy, the weight
of his role is slowly shaping his daily life. Turning 12 has brought a major
change — he and Prince William can no longer fly together, a precaution to
safeguard the royal line of succession.
According to Koenig, the next stage in his royal journey will see George
gaining “firsthand knowledge about the responsibilities as heir to the
throne,” preparing him for the crown that awaits him.
