Prince Harry’s Canada Visit Reignites Rift with Prince William

Duke’s Toronto charity event clashes with William’s Earthshot ceremony in Brazil

Just as it seemed tensions between King Charles’s sons were easing, a new conflict has stirred between Harry and William.

The brothers, who reportedly haven’t spoken in three years, remain distant even as Harry attempts to mend his relationship with their father. The latest spark came on Monday, when Harry’s spokesperson announced his upcoming trip to Toronto on November 5–6 to support the veterans’ charity True Patriot Love Foundation. The timing directly overlaps with William’s Earthshot Prize ceremony in Brazil on November 5.

The coincidence drew attention, especially as William arrived in Rio de Janeiro the same day to a warm public reception. Royal watchers were quick to suggest that the Duke of Sussex might be trying to draw attention away from his brother’s event.

Harry’s team, however, rejected that idea, stating the trip had been planned for months and that King Charles’s office had been notified “as a courtesy.”

Reports also suggest that during meetings earlier this year, Harry had offered to share his schedule with both the King’s and Kensington Palace’s offices to prevent any future overlaps.

When comparing the two engagements, William’s high-profile climate event in Brazil and the upcoming COP30 summit stand in contrast to Harry’s more modest charity dinner in Toronto. Still, Harry’s decision to inform the Palace beforehand appears to be an effort to avoid adding further strain to already fragile family ties.
