New traffic measures around their home frustrate locals and holiday shoppers
Prince William and Catherine’s recent move to Forest Lodge is stirring frustration among neighbours, especially those hoping to visit a popular Christmas tree shop nearby. What was once a simple trip has turned into a maze of diversions as new rules reshape how people can get around the area.
The Christmas Tree Shop, which opened for the season on Thursday, sits on land next to the couple’s new home. According to the Daily Mail, visitors now face strict limits on access. Drivers are no longer allowed to pass directly in front of the eight-bedroom house, forcing cars onto a newly created circular route that adds more than a mile to the journey.
Traffic cones have been placed throughout the area to keep people on the approved path, but locals say the changes are causing confusion. One resident spoke of “near misses” as drivers accidentally travelled on the wrong side of the cones.
To manage the situation, two royal officers are stationed nearby to keep the area secure and guide people through the new layout. Even with their presence, the temporary system has been described as chaotic, leaving many shoppers irritated at finding their festive outing unexpectedly complicated.
