Royal expert says William wants the issue settled as Andrew continues to cast a cloud over King Charles
The Duke of Sussex’s elder brother is said to be keen to see the long-running Andrew problem resolved, as it continues to weigh on King Charles’s reign. According to royal observer Meredith Constant, the former Duke of York remains a point of friction between the King and his heir.
Speaking to Fox News Digital, Constant explained that the pair do not see eye to eye on how to handle Andrew’s latest demands. She believes the Prince of Wales is anxious to have this matter closed before he eventually takes the Crown. William, she said, can see how Andrew’s presence still casts a shadow over his father’s leadership and does not want to inherit the same burden.
Constant added that Andrew still behaves as though he is owed privileges because he was born into them, describing him as someone who sees himself as a victim. She noted that Charles and his heir have never been fully aligned on this subject, despite suggestions in the British press.
The expert argued that allowing the situation to linger makes the monarchy appear slow and outdated at a time when it needs to show it can adapt. She also warned that the father of their daughters is not stepping aside quietly, and the public should expect more attempts from him to maintain relevance. In her view, Andrew’s main priority, whether during his time as a trade envoy or as a working royal, has always been his own financial security.
