Princess Diana’s Brother Shares Tribute as Royals Remain Silent

Charles Spencer honours his sister on her death anniversary while family
faces questions over their silence

On the 28th anniversary of Princess Diana’s tragic death, her brother Charles
Spencer marked the day with a quiet but moving message, while the royal family
offered no public acknowledgment.

Diana, mother to William and Harry, died in a car crash in Paris alongside
Dodi Al-Fayed in 1997. Her sudden death left her young sons, then only 15 and
12, devastated.

On Thursday, Charles Spencer posted a simple tribute on social media, sharing
flowers he had gathered from the gardens of Althorp, where Diana is buried.
“Flowers we cut this morning from Althorp’s gardens for the Island,” he wrote.
“Always an impossible day.”

The post stood in sharp contrast to the silence from senior royals. Buckingham
Palace has often issued tributes to other members of the family, yet the day
passed without recognition for Diana.

Instead, William and Catherine released a message to honour Liz Hatton, a
cancer patient who would have celebrated her 18th birthday, but there was no
mention of the princess who once held the title of Princess of Wales and was
mother to the future king.

Whether William or Harry will share personal reflections later remains to be
seen. For now, Diana’s memory was most visibly honoured by her brother, who
quietly paid his respects at her final resting place.
