The Princess of Wales reflects on love, connection, and early childhood in
a touching new note
Catherine, the Princess of Wales, has shared a deeply personal message
following her latest Early Childhood initiative, reinforcing the shared
mission she and Prince William have championed — improving the lives of
children everywhere.
Her message came just days after William spoke candidly in The Reluctant
Traveler about the importance of a “stable home” for children. Echoing his
sentiment, Catherine wrote, “Attention is the most basic form of love. In our
increasingly distracted world, it has never been more important to hold on to
what truly connects us — to ourselves, to one another, and to the world around
us.” The post, signed simply with “C,” appeared on the official Prince and
Princess of Wales Instagram account.
Her reflection followed a visit to Home-Start in Oxford on October 9, where
she helped launch a new parenting animation series in collaboration with The
Royal Foundation’s Centre for Early Childhood. After the visit, she praised
the volunteers and families she met, writing that it was “inspiring to hear
how volunteers are helping to build parents’ confidence and resilience, and to
meet families benefitting from this incredible community of support.”
Catherine has long been a passionate advocate for early years development,
focusing on how nurturing relationships shape future wellbeing. Her husband
shares that commitment, recently opening up about his own childhood and the
lessons he hopes to pass on to their children. Reflecting on his and Harry’s
upbringing, especially after their parents’ divorce, William told Eugene Levy,
“You have to have that warmth, that feeling of safety, security, love… if you
don’t start the children off now with a happy, healthy, stable home, you’re
setting them up for a bit of a hard time and a fall.”
