Royal Family Warned Andrew Scandal Could Bring More Trouble

Historian says growing scrutiny puts the monarchy in a risky moment

The Royal family is facing fresh pressure as renewed attention on Andrew’s connection to Jeffrey Epstein places the monarchy back under intense scrutiny.

Historian Andrew Lownie has cautioned King Charles and senior royals that the situation has pushed the institution into what he describes as its most precarious period. Speaking on The Daily Beast podcast, he suggested that Charles may even be quietly supporting Andrew’s move away from the United Kingdom.

According to Lownie, the issue goes far beyond Andrew himself. He noted that the public is questioning how the situation was allowed to develop, why it was not handled sooner and why Andrew continues to receive protection. He said the Royal family recognises the scale of the backlash and has effectively distanced itself from Andrew in an effort to shield the monarchy from deeper questions about privilege and accountability.

Lownie also hinted that William may take a firmer approach, warning that the fallout could extend to their daughters. He added that concern is growing over the opacity of royal finances at a time when people are increasingly weary of what they see as elite protection and ongoing coverups.

He concluded that the institution must regroup and rethink its approach as pressure continues to build.
