Sarah Ferguson has issued a heartfelt statement, just hours after King Charles
and Queen Camilla’s historic visit to Middlesbrough—the first by a reigning
monarch in 32 years.
Taking to Instagram, the Duchess of York reflected on an emotional milestone
as she delivered a keynote address for Cancer Alliance Palm Beach at the 2025
Shop The Day Away luncheon.
Ferguson, affectionately known as Fergie, shared poignant images from the
event alongside her message:
“Yesterday, I had the privilege of delivering a keynote address for
@canceralliancepalmbeach at the 2025 Shop The Day Away Luncheon. Surrounded by
an incredible community of strength and resilience, it was deeply moving to
share my own cancer journey, hear the inspiring stories of others, and
celebrate the unwavering spirit that unites us all.”
She highlighted a particularly special moment—meeting legendary athlete and
fellow cancer survivor, Chrissie Evert, whom she described as “an absolute
icon in sport and someone I have always been a total fan of.” Ferguson had the
honor of presenting Evert with the Cancer Alliance Lifetime Achievement Award,
praising her “grace, courage, and dedication to advocacy.”
Expressing gratitude to those who support individuals battling cancer, she
concluded:
“Together, we continue to champion hope.”
