Former Duchess of York says she was happy to return to royal life after Christmas invitation
Sarah Ferguson has spoken about how happy and grateful she felt after being welcomed back into royal life.
The former Duchess of York was reportedly elated when she received an invitation to spend Christmas at Sandringham, marking her first appearance there since her split from Prince Andrew.
Royal commentator Ephraim Hardcastle revealed that Sarah was deeply moved by the moment, noting that she even shared her feelings publicly during the day. According to him, she live-tweeted from Sandringham after lunch, overwhelmed to feel included again after years on the sidelines.
At the time, Sarah wrote: “We are enjoying each other’s company and feeling grateful today. I hope everyone has a wonderful day. Happy Christmas to anyone who celebrates and season’s greetings to all!”
Sarah has largely been kept at arm’s length from the Royal Family in recent years due to her association with the late financier Jeffrey Epstein. However, she is now said to be determined to rebuild her public image and make a fresh start.
A source told Closer magazine that Sarah believes a period out of the spotlight could help change public opinion. The insider claimed she feels that stepping back for several months and then returning looking confident and refreshed would make people more willing to forgive and move on.
The source also suggested that Sarah has not ruled out finding love again, adding that she believes she still has the charm that has long attracted wealthy and influential men. While she insists it is not about securing a partner, those close to her say she is open to meeting someone new, ideally someone well off, as she looks ahead to the next chapter of her life.
