The Duke of York’s absence from Sandringham highlights family tensions as
Fergie shows quiet support.
Prince Andrew’s absence from the Royal Family’s traditional Christmas Day walk
at Sandringham has raised questions about his status within the monarchy. King
Charles and Queen Camilla led senior royals in the festive celebration, which
saw Prince William, Catherine, and their children among the attendees.
Notably missing were Princess Beatrice’s parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah
Ferguson. The Duke of York stayed in Windsor, reportedly due to ongoing
scandals, marking a significant break from his usual Christmas service
attendance.
Andrew’s ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, affectionately known as Fergie, also skipped
the family gathering, seemingly to show solidarity with her former husband. On
Christmas Eve, Fergie shared an Instagram video alongside the late Queen’s
corgis, Muick and Sandy, which she adopted after Queen Elizabeth’s passing.
In her message, Fergie extended words of encouragement to those struggling
during the holiday season, saying, “People all over the world that are feeling
a little bit low or sad, just take some joy and bubbles from us, here.”
The absence of Andrew and Fergie from Sandringham comes at a time of
noticeable tensions within the royal family, while senior royals, including
Princess Anne and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, continue to uphold the
family’s cherished Christmas traditions.
