Prince Harry spoke about his grief, mental health and life after stepping back from royal duties in a video for the education platform MasterClass.
He joined neuroscientist Dr. Mary-Frances O’Connor to discuss his experiences, including the emotional struggles he faced after moving abroad with Meghan and their son, Archie.
How much was Harry paid?
The article cites Forbes as reporting that MasterClass instructors can earn up to $100,000, plus 30 per cent of subscription revenue generated by their courses. However, it does not provide confirmation of Harry’s actual payment.
The article also says access to the platform costs between £10 and £19 a month.
What did Harry say about his mental health?
Harry said being a prince did not mean he had all the support he needed. He explained that he carried grief for 15 or 20 years without knowing how to deal with his feelings.
He recalled moving to Canada to get some distance from the pressures of royal life. Within a few days, he experienced what he described as an “adrenaline crash.”
Harry said he struggled with everyday tasks and felt depressed for about two weeks. He felt as though his brain had become used to constant stress and could not function without it.
What helps him feel better?
Harry said spending time with Meghan and their children brings him joy. He also finds purpose in his work.
To keep a balance between work and family life, he said he tries not to spend more than ten days away from his wife and children.
How did Diana’s perfume help him face his grief?
Harry also spoke about struggling to express his sadness after his mother’s death. He said he had not cried for almost 20 years, although he thinks about Diana most nights and mornings.
Smelling her perfume years later helped bring back memories and feelings he had kept hidden. He described the scent as taking him back to another time and helping him connect with his grief.
Harry said he hopes his mother would be proud of his work. He also realised that many of the causes he cares about are similar to those Diana supported.
